Charles Barkley infamously claimed there isn't anywhere to go out and eat in Salt Lake City. We'd like to say otherwise.
Another interesting tweet from ESPN analyst Greg Wyshynski is not about hockey, but about food.
And boy, is he getting his foodie on.
Such a tweet got me thinking about the infamous claim by Charles Barkley, a noted Tampa Bay Lightning fan, that there was not much to see or eat in Salt Lake City.
May I present two places, among others, where you can get your foodie on:
Caputo's Deli and Bruge's Belgian Bistro
This might count as two places, but these two spots are literally within a stone's throw of each other.
If you want to have a cold cut sandwich and soup, then splurge in the Italian market next door, Caputo's has you covered.
You want something sweet after something salty? Bruge's has waffles and fries (frites, as they were) for you to pig out on.
White Horse Tavern
The no. 2 place on my list is one of the best bars in the city.
While I myself enjoy non-alcoholic drinks (I am a Latter-day Saint, after all), the food here is something you can't beat.
From the "eggs and chips" bar snack to a classic mac and cheese, if you want some bar food and libations, this is the place for you.
(There's many more places to go in Salt Lake, and I want to hear from you on RoundTable.)
I guess Charles Barkley was right after all -- there really is nothing to do.
You just have to look in the right places.
Other notable places to eat: Copper Onion, Carson Kitchen, Eggs in the City
