My thoughts on the first official day as a Utah NHL fan? Here they are:

These are promising days.

With the New York Rangers being eliminated Saturday at the hands of the Florida Panthers, it meant my time as a Blueshirt fan came to an end after 12 years without a championship.

It also meant that for the first time since I was 14 years old, I'll have a new team — and it doesn't even have a name yet.

That's right, I'm officially now a Utah NHL team fan — and it also means I can stop hopping around the coasts, too.

(I'm a San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Braves, and Boston Celtics fan, just to name a few teams.)

My thoughts on my first official day as a fan? I'm stoked.

Just look at all the moves that Utah has made in the last few weeks — Chris Armstrong as alternate governor, top prospect Julian Lutz signing his entry-level deal, and coach Andre Tourigny being locked in for the future.

I can't wait to interact with the players and coaches on a daily basis, and I also can't wait to be a part of this fanbase when the season starts in October.

But why wait? You know I'm already going to don the colors, wear the gear, and cheer as loud as I can while writing these columns — you all have seen it.

There's no reason why you should be surprised, then, that I am calling all Utahns to show their colors with me — to show that we belong in this league.

These are promising days, indeed.
