The Utah Hockey Club has had a very busy morning. They traded for both Mikhail Sergachev and John Marino to add to their blue line.
Utah did the same thing with their 3rd-round pick when they drafted Will Skahan with the 65th overall pick.
Skahan is a big-bodied defenseman who also has a high hockey IQ. He can use his size to make life tough on his opponents and doesn't shy away from making big hits. Many scouts have drawn some comparisons to the New York Rangers captain, Jacob Trouba.
Skahan is a 6-foot-4, 216-pound defender who joins a few other very big defensemen with the Utah Hockey Club. It appears to be GM Bill Armstrong's want and need to draft big-bodied, tough-to-play-against defensemen.
He isn't known for point production; he only scored 14 points in 60 NTDP games. He is more of a defensive zone specialist.
Utah's newest draft pick has committed to the Boston College Eagles of the NCAA for the 2024–25 season.
