Utah reportedly file eighth logo trademarks for Utah Hockey Club

If you have been following the new Utah NHL team, you would know by now that their owner, Ryan Smith, had a fan vote to determine the team's name.

A few days ago, he took to the Pat McAfee show and said that they are down to four final names, naming the two front runners as the Utah Yetis and Utah Mammoths.

Well, there is also a report that to start their inaugural season, they will play under the 'Utah Hockey Club' and have a very simple branding design. Those reports appear to be coming true after the news today about the team filling trademarks on eight different logo concepts.

It appears that Utah will be taking the same approach as the PWHL did with their branding concepts. The PWHL teams used their cities' names and did fairly simple jersey designs to get them started, but they likely will change them up this off-season.

Utah is planning on doing the same thing, but now they need to decide between the eight different logos that they trademarked. The good thing is that they have the time to do it while they build a new-look NHL team ahead of the 2024–25 NHL season.
