The second day of rookie camp is underway for Utah Hockey Club, but the news is continuing to flow in fast and furious.
The club announced in a press release earlier this morning that rookie camp, the official opening to training camp, will be followed by the veterans reporting for a media day at Delta Center on Wednesday, September 18.
Training camp will then commence with two-a-day practices at the renovated Olympic Oval from Thursday through Saturday, leading up to the pre-season opener in Des Moines, Iowa against the St. Louis Blues.
The camp will conclude with two practices at Park City Ice Arena on October 3 and 4, preceding the pre-season finale against Colorado, to be held at the Maverik Center in West Valley City.
Also, on Wednesday, the club announced the addition of former Seattle Kraken and Edmonton Oilers forward Kailer Yamamoto on a professional tryout contract.
The American-born winger will report on September 18 with the rest of the veterans for training camp, the club announced on social media.
Yamamoto was drafted by the Oilers in 2017 from the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, and had a career-high 20 goals and 41 points in the 2021-22 season for Edmonton.
He was last with the Seattle Kraken in 2023-24 on a one-year deal, which was not renewed this past July.
