The no. 6 overall pick is expected to return when veterans report for full training camp next week.
When the Utah Hockey Club takes the ice in Los Angeles tomorrow, their biggest prospect won't be on the ice with them.
The club announced Thursday that no. 6 overall pick Tij Iginla will not participate in the Rookie Face-Off in Los Angeles due to a lower-body injury.
The expectation is Iginla will return when full training camp begins next week Wednesday.
Iginla was a notable absence on Wednesday at the opening session of rookie camp, which officially started Utah's inaugural training camp at Olympic Oval, though he was working out on the side track.
When his absence was initially announced, Utah HC labeled him as "day-to-day", before they decided to hold him out of rookie camp entirely this morning.
The Rookie Face-Off begins tomorrow in Los Angeles with Utah facing San Jose, and all games can be found on the club's website.
