The club communications department confirmed players will be in the state for their own practices.

Some of you who follow a page called NHLUtah on Instagram may have seen a post floating around which spotted Utah Hockey Club-branded luggage at the Salt Lake City airport.

The video, originally shot by Christian Grunnah, a hockey coach who works in Ogden, has been confirmed to be one of the players who have arrived in the Beehive State for informal skates and drills before camp starts in a month.

The Utah Hockey Club communications department also confirmed to me that some players have come to the state for those informal skates, which are not open to the public.

It follows the events of Monday, which saw the club break ground on its new permanent practice facility at the South Town Mall in Sandy.

The countdown continues to the beginning of the pre-season, which opens on September 23 in Des Moines, Iowa, as the club will face off against St. Louis.

Utah will then face the Chicago Blackhawks on opening night on October 8 in their historic first game as a franchise, to be televised nationally on ESPN and streamed worldwide on ESPN+.
