The Utah Hockey Club released a post on X/Twitter today honoring one of the greatest players of the last 25 years and his son.
Jarome and Tij Iginla were both highlighted in a tweet celebrating Black History Month.
February is Black History Month, and with Utah not carrying forward the history of the Arizona Coyotes, Tij is set to become the first Black hockey player in franchise history.
Jarome, on the other hand, is a Hockey Hall of Famer and a six-time All-Star. He is just the fourth Black player inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Utah fans will have to wait until next season for Tij to join the club, as he is currently playing in the WHL. However, when he does make the jump to the NHL, he hopes to follow in his dad’s footsteps.
Happy Black History Month!
