The club announced a re-assignment and a release Wednesday morning after the only off day of training camp.

Following their 3-2 overtime win over Los Angeles Monday night, and an off day for recovery yesterday, the Utah Hockey Club began the process of trimming its roster for opening night.

The club announced forward Reggie Newman will return to be with the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League, where he has spent the last three seasons.

They also released Kyle Crnkovic, who was on a professional tryout contract (PTO) after spending last season with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League.

Newman, an undrafted free agent, scored 19 goals in 64 games with the Royals last season and had 99 penalty minutes as one of the bottom-six forwards for Victoria.

Crnkovic played in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds before being promoted to the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL in 2023-24 for 60 games, scoring 20 goals and tallying 34 assists.

The club is currently in the second session of practice for the day; there has so far been no further roster updates.

Additionally, the club has provided no further updates on the health of Tij Iginla (lower-body injury; day-to-day), John Marino (upper-body; week-to-week), and Nick Bjugstad (upper-body; week-to-week).
