We begin our matchup previews in the Eastern Conference with the reigning Presidents' Trophy holders.
From the news feed, you can tell the Utah Hockey Club has been fairly busy lately, with the groundbreaking of their new practice facility (and the suggestions that followed) and their giveaway of a signed game puck.
They're not waiting for opening night to get their fans involved, and the fans are responding in kind.
And as the countdown to opening night continues, another team is looking forward to welcoming the club to the league.
That would be the reigning Presidents' Trophy-holding New York Rangers, who will be having Utah as its home opener on October 12.
After a 55-win campaign leading to a six-game loss in the Eastern Conference Final to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, the Blueshirts did some serious retooling this off-season.
The additions of Riley Nash, Reilly Smith, and Sam Carrick will give the Rangers some much-missing snarl on the bottom six with some depth scoring, and the return of a healthy Filip Chytil will take the scoring load off Artemi Panarin, Alexis Lafreniere, and Chris Kreider.
As always, however, the key will be keeping the potent power play off the ice.
The Rangers have one of the best power play units in the league, thus Utah's discipline will be on full display if they can stay out of the box.
Although Utah's defence is much better from last season, you can't give the Blueshirts chance after chance, because they will make you pay.
But the club is up for the challenge, and they won't be afraid to steal the spotlight on Broadway.
