The Utah Hockey Club have announced their lone trade of the deal.
They have traded Hall of Famer Shea Weber's contract to the Chicago Blackhawks in a package deal.
The full trade details are as follows:
Utah HC acquires: Chicago's 2026 fifth round pick
Chicago acquires: Contract of Shea Weber, Rights to defenseman Victor Soderstrom, Forward Aku Raty
Although it is a small deal, it sets them for great success in the off-season and into next season.
GM Bill Armstrong was able to move out Weber's $7.857 million contract that allows the team to be more flexibility, especially with the cap set to raise to $95.5 million next season. It opens up more opportunities for Armstrong to get aggressive and add to his club to make them more competitive.
With the amount of great players that could hit the open market this summer, it looks like Utah will be looking to spend this free agent period.
Other than this trade, it was a very quiet deadline day for Utah, which shows just how much belief the organization has in their team.
