The NHL playoff action had quite the ending this weekend, with multi-goal comebacks from both Dallas and Winnipeg to close off the first round.

But even with the exciting playoff action, for fans of the 16 teams eliminated from the playoffs, including Utah Hockey Club, it'll be a while before their team will be able compete in anything.

And in a time of playoff games and the chase for the Stanley Cup, fans of those teams find themselves with good hockey, but aren't able to root for the team they've spent all year cheering for

However, tonight, on May 5, Utah fans will have something to root for as the first step toward next season takes place with the NHL Draft Lottery.

Set to air on ESPN at 5 p.m. MT, just an hour before the Panthers and Maple Leafs kick off their second round matchup, Utah fans can tune into see where their team will pick in the NHL draft.

With this being only the second time Utah will draft in front of its new fans, there is sure to be more interest after a full season of connecting with the team.

NHL Draft Lottery Set For May 5 — How High Can Utah Pick? NHL Draft Lottery Set For May 5 — How High Can Utah Pick? The NHL has announced the date for the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery. It will take place on Monday, May 5th. With the Utah Hockey Club now in the bottom 11 teams, the question is: where exactly did they finish—and how high can they move up?

Though Utah is not in play for the top pick due to its current position, 14th in the Draft Lottery standings, the team still has odds to land a higher draft position.

The highest pick Utah could land is fourth, but moving up that high would be incredible value for a team that competed for a playoff spot until the very end of the season.

But make sure to tune in at 5 p.m. MT on ESPN if you want to see where Utah Hockey Club, and the other NHL teams, will be picking come June.
