Here's what happened during this off-season as training camp looms.
Players have arrived for closed informal training skates, the last loose roster ends are being tied up, and we're halfway through our matchup previews.
That means training camp is officially around the corner, and with it comes the pre-season.
The preseason schedule will officially open in Des Moines, Iowa, on September 22, exactly one month from today, against the St. Louis Blues, before Utah HC hosts their first-ever home game the next night against the Los Angeles Kings.
Before that, however, the rookies will gather in Los Angeles for the Kings' Rookie Face-Off Tournament, which is the de facto opening to training camp.
The pre-season will cap off a busy off-season for the Utah Hockey Club, which has broken ground on a new practice facility in Sandy, started renovations to the Delta Center and the Utah Olympic Oval, and reached the climax of their permanent name vote.
The club also made some groundbreaking acquisitions through trade and draft, with the names of Tij Iginla and Cole Beaudoin joining a deep prospect pool, while Mikhail Sergachev, John Marino, Ian Cole, and Kevin Stenlund were added to boost the physicality and skill of the squad.
Utah HC now looks forward to welcoming their fans for the first time to see the team, led by young stars Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley, among others, compete in what's expected to be a loaded Western Conference.
And the goal, as has been repeated all off-season, is to be consistently involved in meaningful games, according to general manager Bill Armstrong.
The road to that goal begins in less than a month as fans now eagerly await the start of camp.
