Last night in the Utah Hockey Club vs. Minnesota Wild game, there was more action than just goals being scored.
Early in the first period, with Utah up 1-0, Jack McBain and the Wild's Jacob Middleton dropped the gloves in a heavyweight tilt.
McBain landed an early right, followed by one that missed, before failing to get the tie-up on Middleton. Middleton then started landing punch after punch, sending McBain down to one knee. McBain managed to get back up, and both fighters exchanged a few more shots before the fight ultimately ended.
The fight appeared to spark Utah, who went on to win the game 6-1, thanks to Clayton Keller, who had his first career five-point night.
This is the type of thing you want to see from a team in the thick of a wild card race. Utah has the passion and fight to keep themselves in games—and, on some nights, dominate entirely.
With the win, Utah now sits just two points behind the Vancouver Canucks for the final wild card spot in the West.
