Utah HC owner Ryan Smith and general manager Bill Armstrong are giving fans a chance to show off their own analytical talent.
The club announced in a press release Tuesday their first-ever "Summer Analytics Challenge", where fans must identify and analyze a hockey topic of their choice through a five-page report.
The finalists will have a unique opportunity to present their findings directly to Bill Armstrong virtually, with the overall winner receiving a part-time, paid internship in the analytics department for the club during the season.
It's another example of how Utah HC is getting the fanbase involved, adding onto the fan vote for the name of the team and promoting the 2034 Winter Olympic Games on the road in Paris.
“We are excited to engage analytical minds through the Summer Analytics Challenge that provides the opportunity to become involved with our organization in a unique way,” Armstrong said in the club's press release.
Of course, the applicants must either reside in the United States or Canada, and over the age of 18, according to the press release.
The deadline for applications is Friday, August 23, at 5 p.m. Mountain time.
