The club saw record numbers of sales and attendance at last night's win over Chicago.

The Utah Hockey Club's Inaugural Game was more than about the 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on the ice Tuesday night.

It was also more than about the millions of viewers across the state and around North America on ESPN and ESPN+.

The club released some astounding quick facts about Tuesday's game, including the following:

  • Merchandise sales doubled the previous record for any other single-night event in Delta Center history, with the new Foreign Rider-designed Utah HC sweater and the commemorative Inaugural Game shirt taking top spots.
  • More than 7,400 fan-friendly "Mountain Menu" concessions, consisting of $2 water bottles and $3 hot dogs, were sold.
  • Beverages reached record demand, and yes -- beer took top spot with a whopping $120,000 in sales, the most ever in the arena's history.

But more impressive was the attendance.

Although the listed capacity for Delta Center, the home of hockey events for the 2034 Winter Olympics as announced by Ryan Smith Tuesday at the press conference, is 12,000 (officially 11,131 with unobstructed seating), ticket demand required the help of single-goal view seats.

Thus, last night's attendance was officially 16,020, the largest-ever crowd to witness a hockey game in the arena's history. (For reference, renovations at Delta Center will raise unobstructed seat capacity to over 17,000 in coming years.)

The Utah Hockey Club is off today while they travel to New York for a three-game East Coast road trip beginning tomorrow night at Belmont Park against the New York Islanders.
