Kailer Yamamoto is staying in Utah after signing a two-year, $1.75 million AAV contract extension with the Mammoth following a productive first season that saw him emerge as a reliable depth scoring

The Utah Mammoth are bringing back a familiar piece of their forward group, locking in Kailer Yamamoto on a new deal as the organization continues to round out its middle-six scoring options.

The team announced Monday that Yamamoto has signed a two-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $1.75 million, keeping the 27-year-old winger in Utah after a productive first season with the club.

“Kailer is a versatile forward that wins battles and can produce offense for us,” general manager Bill Armstrong said. “Kailer is important to our team and we are thrilled that he will return to the Mammoth.”

Yamamoto quickly carved out a role last season, appearing in 59 games and contributing 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points. He also chipped in five points across six postseason appearances, providing secondary scoring when it mattered most.

What stood out internally was his efficiency. Yamamoto finished second on the team in shooting percentage among players with at least 35 games played, a reflection of how often he capitalized when chances came his way.

Since entering the NHL, the Spokane native has developed into a well-traveled, energy-driven forward who can move up and down a lineup. Across his career, he has produced 160 points in 374 NHL games with Utah, Edmonton, and Seattle, while also logging significant AHL experience and earning a selection to the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic.

A former first-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2017, Yamamoto also brings a decorated junior and international résumé, having represented the United States across multiple age levels and consistently producing offense at every stop.

For Utah, the deal reinforces a forward group that has leaned on versatility and pace, with Yamamoto once again positioned to carve out a consistent role in the lineup as the Mammoth look to stabilize their depth scoring heading into next season.
