The Utah Mammoth have reportedly been linked to Pavel Zacha of the Boston Bruins. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Mammoth are one of the teams listed as interested in him.

Zacha, 28, has been a key forward for the Bruins over the last few seasons. This past year, he slotted in alongside fellow countryman David Pastrnak and recorded 14 goals and 33 assists for 47 points.

Unfortunately, things are trending in the wrong direction in Boston, which is why he finds his name on the block this summer. If the Mammoth have expressed interest in him, it makes sense. They’ve shown this offseason that they’re going all-in, trying not only to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, but to take a real shot at winning the Stanley Cup.

Zacha would be a solid addition. He’s scored over 50 points twice in his career—57 points in 82 games in 2022-23 and 59 points in 78 games in 2023-24. During his earlier seasons with the New Jersey Devils, the team that drafted him, he played in a lesser role and averaged around 30 to 35 points per year. On the Mammoth, he would likely slot in behind Logan Cooley and Barrett Hayton in a third-line center role. That would probably mean less ice time than he’s seen in Boston, but a chance to help a rising team push for the playoffs and potentially more.

Zacha has two years left on his contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $4.75 million. He also has an eight-team no-trade list, so he could veto a deal to Utah if they’re on it. But if not, and if the Mammoth and Bruins can find common ground, Utah might be adding another quality piece to their young core.
