Could Tij Iginla Be A Future 50-Goal Scorer For Utah HC? GM Bill Armstrong Thinks He Can

© Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports - "We Have a Lot Of 20-Goal Scorers. We Need a 50-goal Scorer,” Could Tij Iginla Be A Future 50-Goal Scorer For Utah HC?

Tij Iginla, son of Calgary Flames' legend and Hockey Hall of Famer, Jarome, is going to become a household name very quickly.

At just 17 years old, he already has the mindset that he will be great, and it appears his GM agrees.

Bill Armstrong describes Iginla as an "unbelievable kid."

He also told Tij, "I said to him, We have a lot of 20-goal scorers. We need a 50-goal scorer.” This may be all the motivation that the BC native needs to hear.

Iginla showed NHL scouts nightly that he has the potential to be an elite goal scorer at the NHL level. Utah director of player development and former NHL'er Lee Stempniak spoke highly of their new first-round pick.

Stempniak said, “I think the thing that stood out was the work ethic, high motor, and then just the willingness to play on the inside, which is critical in the NHL.”

It shouldn't come as a shock to NHL fans. Do you remember who his dad was? Jarome was one of, if not the best, power forwards in the NHL during his time.

It doesn't always come true, but when you are around greatness, you tend to want to become the same. Tij talked about how his dad has impacted his game: “He's been huge for my development."

For fans of the Utah Hockey Club, seeing draft picks like this is very exciting. Especially when the GM of your favourite team speaks so highly of him.

Only time will tell how his career plays out, but for now, the thought of Tij Iginla being the greatest Utah Hockey Club player of all time is very exciting to think about.
