Here is why Troy Stecher will be an excellent pickup for the Oilers as they gear up to go on a deep playoff run.

The Arizona Coyotes traded Troy Stecher and a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick.
What exactly will Stecher provide for the Oilers?
In 47 games, the 29-year-old has one goal, four assists and five points, but his individual performance goes far beyond just the stats.
First off, Stecher is playing 18:26 minutes per game meaning that he was fully trusted by coach André Tourigny through his time this season with the Coyotes.

The Oilers are a fast team to say the least and Stecher is a great skater with really solid speed, so he should fit right into Edmonton’s fast pace play.
Despite standing at just 5’10’’, Stecher is reliable in the defensive zone as he was one of the Coyotes’ top penalty killers throughout the entirety of this season.
There is a reason that the Coyotes traded Stecher before last year’s trade deadline and still brought him back during the offseason. He plays consistently well and while not being overly flashy, he always makes the right plays.
Stecher is selfless and doesn't need the puck on his stick in order to thrive which is why he should be perfect for an Oilers team that consists of multiple playmakers.
The Oilers needed more defensive depth and Stecher will provide just that as they get ready to potentially go on a deep playoff run.
