The first official day of competition at the Summer Olympics is underway.
But as we've been doing for the last couple of days, we've been looking back at Salt Lake 2002 and looking forward to the future, as the city prepares for another Olympics in 2034.
Today, we're talking about another potential player who could appear at the Winter Olympics, after previewing if Tij Iginla, the son of Hockey Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla, could potentially be on the roster for Team Canada as soon as 2026.
That would be American-born, Canadian-rooted forward Josh Doan, the son of Hockey Hall of Famer and Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan.
Doan was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, which makes him an American by birth, though his father is from Canada.
He's already shown his potential; in his 11 appearances last season, he scored 9 points (five goals, four assists) with a plus-minus rating of +6.
So, which team will Doan play for?
Could he play for Canada, following in his father's footsteps after Shane Doan appeared in the 2006 Turin Olympics?
Or will he stay true to his birthplace and commit to the Stars and Stripes? He did begin his career with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, and he also played for Arizona State along with the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners.
Josh Doan would be a great offensive addition to whomever he decides to play for; he had a career-best 31 goals with Chicago, and 26 more in his sophomore season with the Sun Devils.
In the end, it'll be up to whoever the powers-to-be are to decide which team needs his services.
And it'll be an interesting tug-of-war to see who wins.
