For Barrett Hayton, hard work really does pay off.

After registering four goals and two assists for Utah Hockey Club, Hayton has been named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week. This is the first time in his career that he has earned this honor.

Boston forward David Pastrnak and Anaheim forward Mason McTavish joined Hayton as the other two Stars of the Week.

Hayton's hot streak began in Utah's last home game of a seven-game stretch against the Winnipeg Jets. In the 5-2, Hayton scored one goal and added two assists, tying a season high of three points.

His success carried over to Utah's next game as the team traveled to Minnesota to take on the Wild. In that game, Hayton scored two goals—both in the opening two minutes of different periods—leading Utah to a 4-0 win. It was his first multi-goal playing for Utah HC.

Following the win against Minnesota, Hayton scored another goal in a 5-2 loss to Winnipeg, just four days after Utah’s win over the Jets. Scoring in those three games matched Hayton’s career-best mark of three consecutive games with a goal.

With wins against divisional opponents like the Jets and the Wild, Hayton's contributions have been critical for Utah as it battles for a playoff spot. Continued elevated play from Hayton, especially with Dylan Guenther still out with injury, will be critical for Utah as it battles Calgary for the final Wild Card spot.

This is also only the second time ever in Utah Hockey Club history that its had a player named as one of the NHL’s Stars of the Week.

Dylan Guenther is the only other player in Utah's history to be named a NHL Star of the Week after he tallied five goals across Utah's first three wins of the season. He also scored Utah's first goal in franchise history during that stretch.

Will Hayton continue to have the hot hand against Pittsburgh on Wednesday? Let me know down below!
