Injuries haven’t dampened the former first-rounder in 2022 and his outlook for his career.

It would be easy to let injuries eat away at a prospect’s career.

Just don’t tell that to Maveric Lamoureux, the former first-round pick in 2022 who is “nearly healthy” again after off-season shoulder surgery.

It’s been only three months since that surgery, but Lamoureux told reporters Sunday at Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake that he’s ready to contribute in whatever way the club needs.

And of course, the 6-foot-7 blue liner has been working on how to control his physicality, jokingly saying penalties have followed him his whole career.

“Curtis Foster and I, we’ve been talking about bending my knees so I don’t catch the players in the head,” he said. “Getting stronger and growing into my body will help, too.”

It comes on the heels of two shoulder surgeries that Lamoureux said doesn’t worry him about his long-term career, especially after a chat with teammate Alex Kerfoot, who endured the same type of procedure.

And that type of leadership, he added, has helped him develop into the player that’s ready to compete on the ice.

“The whole team’s been behind me,” he said to reporters Sunday at Grand America Hotel. “I feel like I’ve taken a huge step.”
