How did Liam O'Brien get his nickname? Find out here on this edition of Sunday Fun.

While Utah HC fans are anxiously waiting for another potential round of voting on their permanent name, one name is becoming almost a rallying cry within the fanbase:

Spicy Tuna.

That would be the nickname of one Liam O'Brien, who signed a three-year contract extension with the team on June 26.

But how did he get that name?

"My nickname was Tuna when I was in Hershey," he said in a press conference on Zoom on June 26. "Nate Schmidt (now playing for the Jets) started calling me that, and it took off."

It wasn't until he arrived in the NHL, and forward Jordan Schmaltz, the older brother of current Utah HC forward Nick Schmaltz, added "Spicy" to the nickname, and it became a phenomenon.

O'Brien is sure to become a phenomenon himself on the ice when the Utah Hockey Club makes its pre-season debut in September, and then gets to showcase their new team to the nation and the world on October 8 against Original Six team Chicago.

You could say he's about to bring the "spice" to the ice.
