The hulking blue-liner will get his first taste of NHL hockey tonight against Colorado.

When Maveric Lamoureux got the call to come to Utah, he was standing in his apartment.

Tonight, he’ll be standing face to face with one of the best teams in the league as Utah HC faces the Colorado Avalanche at Delta Center.

“It’s a tough matchup, for sure,” head coach Andre Tourigny said. “There’s no higher pace than Colorado.”

Lamoureux doesn’t have to worry, though. He’ll be paired up with Ian Cole tonight, a veteran presence that Tourigny said will help with the team game aspect.

He added when a decision is made to give a prospect an NHL debut, it’s an organizational decision.

“I said to (Lamoureux), enjoy it,” Tourigny said. “You worked your whole life to be here. It’s not just one game, it’s your first game.”
