The topics at media day Wednesday at Delta Center included training camp and their expectations for the season.

The message from general manager Bill Armstrong all off-season has been to build consistency and to be in meaningful games, and team president Chris Armstrong reinforced that message Wednesday at media day.

Forward Clayton Keller said the core group has helped the young players make tremendous strides in the last year, adding they've gotten closer as a team in doing so.

Defenceman Sean Durzi, having played at Delta Center already as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, said he knows how special the atmosphere inside the arena is.

Now it's about bringing those two things, great play and a great atmosphere, together.

And on the evidence Keller and Durzi provided, it seems the Utah Hockey Club's window for that is starting to open.

"Everyone on our team wants to win," forward Lawson Crouse said. "We want an environment that's fun to work in, that's competitive. Throughout the years, we've brought in great players and great people to help us do that."

There's plenty of that, with up and coming talent like Maveric Lamoreaux and Owen Allard to provide said competition in camp, and there's also the acquisitions like John Marino, Ian Cole, Kevin Stenlund, and Mikhail Sergachev that will boost the veteran leadership on the team.

"You have to have good players to win a championship; they have to put the team first," forward Logan Cooley said. "That's what we have here, and I'm excited to see what we can do this year."
