Bill Armstrong spoke about surprises coming during the Upper Deck NHL Draft.
It shouldn't come as a shock, then, with an army of draft picks, he decided to deal his hand.
The Utah Hockey Club traded back into the first round, swapping the 38th and 71st overall picks for the no. 24 pick, originally held by Colorado, which they used to snag Barrie's Cole Beaudoin.
Called the "fittest, strongest player" in the draft by The New York Times, Beaudoin is coming off a season where he amassed 62 points in 67 games with the Barrie Colts.
And at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Elite Prospects calls him a two-way centre with a physical nature, which is perfect for Utah HC to build a bottom-six core around in the future.
It will be fun to see the forward at prospect camp in Park City next week and see what he can bring to the table.
