After a very busy morning for the Utah Hockey Club, they have made their third-round draft selections, and to no one's surprise, they are both defensemen.

Pick 89: Tomas Lavoie (D, Cape Breton)

With the 89th overall pick in the third round, Utah selected Tomas Lavoie.

The Quebec native played for the Cape Breton Eagles in the QMJHL and had three goals and 21 assists for 24 points in 65 games.

Lavoie joins the list of big-bodied defensemen; at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, he is a right-handed shooting defender who can use his body to his advantage.

Pick 96: Veeti Vaisanen (D, KooKoo)

With the 96th overall pick in the third round, Utah selected another defenseman in Veeti Vaisanen.

Vaisanen isn't as big as the previous defensemen selected by Utah, but he is an underrated one. The Finnish native is a defensive defenseman who will put his body on the line to help his team win.

Last season, Vaisanen played with the KooKoo in the Liiga, where he scored two goals and eight assists for 10 points in 50 games. Much like Lavoie and Skahan, Vaisanen is not known for his offensive skills; he is a defensive specialist.
