Utah Signed Lutz to 3 Year Entry-Level Contract

Utah's hockey team has signed another one of their prospects, Julian Lutz to a three-year deal entry-level contract.

The contract breakdown is fairly standard for an ELC; the AAV is $950,000, and the cap hit is $923,333 per season. He also gets an $80,000 performance bonus and a $95,000 signing bonus. This contract also carries the AHL salary, set at $82,500.

Lutz was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes (now Utah) in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft. Born in Germany, he played for the duration of his youth and pro career there.

Most recently, he made the move to the USHL and played for the Green Bay Gamblers. In 50 games, he scored 24 goals and 44 assists for 68 points, which was a career-high

Lutz has the potential to be a top-six forward for Utah down the road. At 6-foot-2, 187 pounds, he will likely be asked to play a bit more physical once he reaches the NHL level. This question would be less about hitting and fighting and more about using his big frame to get in the eyes of the goalies and tip pucks.

It is also more than likely that Utah will start Lutz in the AHL if he isn't retiring from the USHL at all. He will need to get some seasoning in the farm system before he gets the call to the show. However, with his work ethic and skill, he may not be waiting all too long for it.
