With Bill Armstrong saying he plans to give prospects from the Roadrunners a chance to compete with the Coyotes, it's safe to assume Josh Doan is high up on that list of players.

Will the Arizona Coyotes call up Josh Doan from the Tucson Roadrunners at some point to end the season?

With 17 games remaining this season and the Coyotes essentially eliminated from playoff contention, it’s safe to assume that the team could give a couple of young players from the Roadrunners a chance, Doan being at the top of that list.

General manager Bill Armstrong made clear last week following the NHL Trade Deadline that he does envision a couple of call-ups being made through the final stretch of the year.

“There are always guys down in Tucson,” Armstrong said. “They have had a great year down there. They have done an amazing job of developing our players down there and also having success in a playoff team down there, so they are exciting and we would like to reward some of those guys during the course of our final remaining games. Come up at some point in time and play some games.”

Through 55 games with the Roadrunners, Doan has 22 goals, 16 assists and 38 points as he continues to shatter expectations.

Doan’s play is a major reason why the Roadrunners have a 31-19-3 record and are likely to make the AHL playoffs.

Since the Coyotes don’t have much to gain through these next 17 games, it’s really a no-brainer to bring up Doan and see what he can do at the NHL level.

It would bring a level of excitement to the fansbase through basically meaningless games and Doan has proven that he is deserving of at the very least getting this opportunity to prove himself against the best hockey players in the world.
