The Arizona Coyotes officially called up forward Josh Doan from the Tucson Roadrunners on Wednesday morning. What does this all mean? Doan served as captain of the Arizona State Sun Devils during the 2022-23 season before signing his entry-level contract with the Coyotes. This year with the Roadrunners, Doan is putting up groundbreaking numbers as he currently has 26 goals, 20 assists and 46 points in 62 games. Now the Coyotes are giving Doan the opportunity to showcase his skills at the NHL level, which will be a big indicator of where he is at in terms of his development. Just like Dylan Guenther’s situation when he was called up in January, it’s important to allow Doan to prove that he is fully ready to play in the NHL and with the Coyotes essentially eliminated from playoff contention, it’s even more of a reason to give these young players a look.
