The Coyotes recently called up Josh Doan which could serve as a monumental moment for the organization.

The Arizona Coyotes officially called up forward Josh Doan from the Tucson Roadrunners on Wednesday morning.

What does this all mean?

Armstrong Post Trade Deadline (1)

The 2022 second round pick has emerged as one of the Coyotes’ top prospects and is developing into a really promising young forward.

Doan served as captain of the Arizona State Sun Devils during the 2022-23 season before signing his entry-level contract with the Coyotes.

This year with the Roadrunners, Doan is putting up groundbreaking numbers as he currently has 26 goals, 20 assists and 46 points in 62 games.

Now the Coyotes are giving Doan the opportunity to showcase his skills at the NHL level, which will be a big indicator of where he is at in terms of his development.

Just like Dylan Guenther’s situation when he was called up in January, it’s important to allow Doan to prove that he is fully ready to play in the NHL and with the Coyotes essentially eliminated from playoff contention, it’s even more of a reason to give these young players a look.

This also gives the fans an opportunity to have something to be excited about through these tough times to close out the season and give them a sense of optimism for the future.

The Doan family holds extraordinary weight for the Coyotes organization. Shane Doan played for Arizona for practically his entire career. He was captain of the Coyotes from 2003-2017 while he also has the most goals, assists and points in the team’s history.

Josh’s arrival is important for a number of reasons and his NHL debut tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets is a very exciting moment for everyone associated with the Coyotes.
