After 25 games, the Vancouver Canucks have developed into one of the NHL's most dangerous offences. The first stat that jumps out is how efficient the Canucks have been this season when it comes to scoring. Despite having the most goals in the NHL, they are just above the league average with 722 shots on net. This is a concerning trend, as in less they can keep up their high shooting percentage, they could struggle to find the back of the net as consistently throughout the rest of the season. 

Now for the scoring trends. Based on NHL Edge, Vancouver has scored the majority of its goals from high-danger areas. Of the 96, 38 have come from right just outside the crease, while 13 have come from inside the crease. This is an encouraging sign because it shows that the Canucks are not just throwing the puck on the net, hoping for something to happen. It also means they are winning battles in open ice, which is a crucial skill to have come playoff time. 

Another interesting scoring trend is that Vancouver has been successful with shots from the point while staring directly at the goaltender. In total, the Canucks have taken 69 of these low-danger shots yet scored on five of them. This shows just how good Vancouver has been at creating screens this season. While these types of shots from the point do not have a high success rate, the fact the Canucks have been able to generate offence is a testament to not just the player's willingness to charge the net but the defence's ability to read the play and get pucks on the net. 

While Vancouver's offence has looked unstoppable so far this season, the NHL EDGE data suggests that they could be even stronger. While there will be slight regression as the Canucks are shooting at a 13.3% rate right now, they should be able to counteract that if they continue to increase shot volume from high-danger and mid-range areas. If they can increase their shot totals, they not only have a chance to be the highest-scoring team in franchise history but also one of the best offences of this century.
