Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn ImagesThe Vancouver Canucks (28-22-11) will look to continue their winning ways on Friday when they take on the Minnesota Wild. This will be the second of three meetings between these two teams, with the Wild defeating the Canucks 3-2 in overtime earlier this season. Both teams are coming off wins against Pacific Division teams, as Vancouver defeated the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday while Minnesota took down the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday.
Latest From THN's Vancouver Canucks Site:
While the game itself is important, the main focus of the day will be the trade deadline. From a Canucks perspective, there have been plenty of trade rumours, with some experts indicating that Vancouver could be buyers and sellers at the deadline. While it is hard to predict exactly what will happen, it is possible the Canucks lineup will look very different than it did on Wednesday night.
Players To Watch:
Marcus Pettersson:
One player that fans can feel confident they will see on Friday is Marcus Pettersson. With Carson Soucy traded and Quinn Hughes a game-time decision, it could mean an expanded role for Pettersson both at even-strength and on the penalty kill. There is little doubt that Pettersson will play over 20 minutes again and will have a strong game against a tough Wild team.
Brock Faber:
Brock Faber is developing into a star for Minnesota. The 22-year-old has 23 points in 58 games and played a key role for Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off. Whether it is at even strength or on special teams, Faber continues to show why he could be in the Norris Trophy conversation in the future.
