The Vancouver Canucks (45-20-8) wrap up their nine-game homestand with an afternoon battle against the Anaheim Ducks (24-46-4). While Vancouver won't have to worry about clinching a playoff spot, the Canucks need a win as the Edmonton Oilers are slowly creeping up on them in the Pacific Division standings. As for the matchup, Vancouver has won their last six against the Ducks, with their previous loss at Rogers Arena coming on Feb. 19, 2022.
With Anaheim having played yesterday, this is an excellent opportunity for the Canucks to build some momentum on the power play. Vancouver has struggled with the man advantage over the past few weeks and has gone four for 29 on the power play in March. Set to face a Ducks team that ranks 31st in the NHL on the penalty kill this season, the Canucks should be able to generate some chances and hopefully get the power play back on track.
Players to Watch
Sam Lafferty
Sam Lafferty has become a hit machine over the past few games. He has at least two hits in each game of this homestand, including 13 in his last two games. Against a tired Ducks team, his physicality will be essential as it should wear down Anaehim's players and could create turnovers that lead to scoring chances.
Olen Zellweger
One of the future stars on this Ducks team is defenceman Olen Zellweger. The former Kamloops Blazer has played 17 games this season and is averaging 18:48 minutes per game. A smooth skater defender who isn't afraid to get the puck on the net, he comes into this game motivated as he is still looking for his first career NHL goal.
