The Vancouver Canucks will be without their captain when they hit the ice against the Anaheim Ducks. According to Rick Tocchet, Quinn Hughes will miss Wednesday's game with an injury. On Tuesday, Tocchet wouldn't state what the injury was but did specify that it was not the reported oblique issue that kept him out of the lineup earlier this month.

The 2024-25 season has been tough for Hughes from an injury perspective. He missed four games earlier this year with a hand injury and recently returned from a six-game absence related to the reported oblique injury. Despite missing ten games, Hughes still leads the team in points with 60 and remains in the Norris Trophy conversation.

Hughes' injury is complicated as the Canucks are currently battling for a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. While having Hughes in the lineup right now is ideal, the organization cannot afford for his injury to get worse, especially if they do qualify for the postseason. At the moment, there is no timeline for Hughes' return, as Vancouver appears to be dealing with this situation on a game-by-game basis.

The Canucks will look for a little revenge as they take on the Ducks for the second time in a week. This Pacific Division battle with be the Canucks final before the 2025 trade deadline, which is on March 7 at noon PT. Game time for Wednesday's match is scheduled for 7:30 pm PT from Rogers Arena.
