Team Canada will play Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off final.

Despite giving up three late goals, Rick Tocchet and Team Canada held on to defeat Kevin Lankinen and Team Finland 5-3 at the 4 Nations Face-Off. The Vancouver Canucks keeper stopped nine of the 13 shots he faced but was pulled after allowing four goals through the first 25:03 of the game. With the regulation win, Canada has booked their spot in the final, which will be a rematch of Saturday's game against the United States.

    4 Nations Face-Off Recap: Montréal

The biggest reason why Canada skated away with a victory was that their star players stepped up. Connor McDavid each had a goal and an assist, while Nathan MacKinnon scored twice, which included the game-winner. Canada also received an impressive performance by Sam Reinhart, who collected three assists on Monday.

As for Finland, they deserve a lot of credit for the way they played in this game. According to Natual Stat Trick, they held an 11-6 even-strength high-danger scoring chances advantage and were able to make the game interesting late in the third despite being down 4-0 with less than seven minutes left. In the end, Finland finishes the 4 Nations Face-Off with a 0-1-2-0 record and a -6 goal differential.

Shifting back to Canada, there needs to be a conversation about the way they played in the third period. While Canada and Finland each had nine shots, Finland was the better team as they were able to get three questionable goals past Jordan Binnington. If the Canadians have their eyes on taking down the USA, they need to find a way to generate more high-danger chances in the final.

The 4 Nations Face-Off wraps up on Thursday, February 20, when Canada and the USA meet in the final. The USA has already beaten Canada once at this tournament, taking down their rivals 3-1 on Saturday in Montréal. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 pm PT from TD Garden in Boston and can be viewed on Sportsnet.
