With a big season, Thatcher Demko has a chance to join the top five in several significant franchise goaltending categories

In more than half a century of the franchise's existence, only six goalies have appeared in more games with the Vancouver Canucks than Thatcher Demko. And by the end of the upcoming season, Demko could move as high as fourth on the franchise list depending on his workload.

Demko opens the season having appeared in 168 National Hockey League games -- all with the Canucks. He sits 20 behind Gary Smith and 40 back of Dan Cloutier. Should the 27-year-old San Diego, CA native appear in 61 games next season he will reel in Jacob Markstrom (229) for fourth spot in franchise history.

Demko needs 19 wins to reach 100 for his career. Those 19 victories will also move him past Markstrom into fifth on the Canucks all-time wins list. A 29-win season will see him climb past Cloutier (109) on that list. And if Demko can somehow post 45 victories this coming season, he will match Richard Brodeur (126) and move into a share of third place behind only Roberto Luongo (252) and Kirk McLean (211).

In terms of minutes played, Demko starts the season having logged 9790:31 in his career which puts him seventh in franchise history. But if he plays 3500 minutes (approximately 60 games), he will shoot past Smith, Cloutier and Markstrom and move into fourth place all time.

The puck stopper is already fifth in franchise history in shots against and saves made. And Demko needs two shutouts to join Jacob Markstrom and Glen Hanlon for 10th in team history with five in his career. Demko has posted one shutout in each of the past three seasons.

It is worth pointing out that Thatcher Demko is already the franchise's most-decorated goaltender among those drafted by the Canucks. The second round selection in 2014 has made more appearances and registered more victories for the team than any other Canucks draft pick ahead of the likes of Glen Hanlon, Cory Schneider and Frank Caprice.
