This game was very deceptive as despite the Canucks outshooting the Stars by almost double, they feel from an analytics perspective. Dallas held an 18-13 even-strength scoring chances advantage while also winning the even-strength high-danger battle 11-5. In the end, Vancouver's inability to score on the power play made the difference, as they could not generate many chances during their five opportunities.
As for the heatmap, it shows how little action happened in this game. From the Canucks perspective, while they were able to keep most of the ice clean, they allowed too many high-danger chances right in front of Thatcher Demko. While there were positives from this game, the heatmap shows just how dangerous the Stars can be in the offensive zone.

To wrap up the report, Vancouver's best line of the night was the trio of Jake DeBrusk, Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser. During their 11:31 of ice time, the Canucks held a 7-1 shots advantage and won the scoring chances battle 5-3. Ultimately, it was a strong night from Vancouver's top line and one they can hopefully build off moving forward.
