Welcome to this edition of the Vancouver Canucks post-game analytics report. This recurring deep dive breaks down the analytics behind each Canucks game as recorded by Natural Stat Trick. In this article, we look back on Vancouver's most recent 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. 

The Canucks put forward an impressive performance from an analytics perspective. At even-strength, Vancouver finished with a 24-15 scoring chances advantage while also winning the high-danger scoring chances battle 9-4. 

As for the heatmap, the Canucks did a good job of protecting the front of the net. Kevin Lankinen only faced three high-danger shots compared to six low-danger shots. Overall, it was an impressive defensive performance from Vancouver, as they were able to shut down one of the hottest teams in the NHL.

There were many standout performances, but one player that deserves praise is center Elias Pettersson. He led all Canucks forwards with 15:46 of even-strength ice time, while Vancouver finished with a 13-0 even-strength scoring chances advantage. This was arguably one of Pettersson's best games of the season, as he was able to step up at both ends of the ice. 

Lastly, the pairing of defenceman Elias Pettersson and Filip Hronek had an impressive night from an analytics perspective. During their 7:48 together at even-strength, the Canucks held a 6-0 shots advantage and won the high-danger scoring chances battle 2-0. Ultimately, it has been an impressive rookie season for Pettersson, who continues to step up when given opportunities.
