Despite holding possession for long portions of the game, the Canucks were unable to out-generate the Blackhawks. Chicago won the even-strength scoring chances battle 19-16, while the two teams tied with six high-danger scoring chances. In the end, Vancouver was able to make the most of their chances, finishing the night with six even-strength goals.
Looking at the heatmap, the Canucks did a good job of protecting their crease. Artūrs Šilovs faced little traffic, with most of the shots he faced coming from distance. Ultimately, it was an impressive performance from Vancouver, who were able to limit the oppositions zone time for the majority of the night.

As for the Canucks top defensive pair, that was Marcus Pettersson and Tyler Myers. The duo played 15:06 at even strength together and finished with a 7-3 shots advantage. Overall, this duo has proven they can be a shutdown pair and continue to be matched up against the opposition's top players.
Lastly, it was another feisty game for Conor Garland. He scored a goal, picked up an assist and led the team with an even-strength xGF% of 70.94. Garland has been one of the Canucks best players all season and continued that trend with a standout performance against the Blackhawks.
