The Canucks have lost their last four games against the Red Wings.
The Vancouver Canucks (34-12-5) will be looking to get back in the win column when they visit the Detroit Red Wings (26-18-6) on Saturday morning. Detroit has taken the last four meetings between these two teams, with their last win coming via a 6-1 victory in Vancouver last February. The matchup will also be a homecoming for Filip Hronek, who played 305 games with the Red Wings before being traded to the Canucks last March.
From Vancouver's perspective, this will be a perfect opportunity to show that their performance against the Boston Bruins was a one-off. The Canucks have not lost back-to-back games since mid-November and will be looking to show that they can once again bounce back from a disappointing performance. If Vancouver wants to pick up win number 35 on the season, they will need to capitalize on their chances early and take advantage of a Detroit team that hasn't played in ten days.
Players to Watch
Elias Pettersson
All eyes will be on Elias Pettersson after his performance against the Bruins on Thursday night. He was on the ice for all four goals against and failed to record a shot on goal for the second straight game. With nine points in eight career games versus the Red Wings, today's game will be the perfect opportunity for him to bounce back and have one of his better performances this season.
Patrick Kane
After missing the last seven games with a lower-body injury, Patrick Kane is set to return to the lineup versus the Canucks. While he has slowed down a bit, fans in Vancouver know all too well how dangerous he can be, as he has 43 points in 46 regular season games against them. Watch for him to play a role on the power play as he looks to celebrate his 1200th game in style.
