Jack Rathbone and Karel Plasek to Penguins for Mark Friedman and Ty Glover

The Vancouver Canucks have acquired two more Pittsburgh Penguins, adding defenceman Mark Friedman and forward Ty Glover in a trade on Tuesday.
The newcomers join former Penguins' Sam Lafferty, Casey DeSmith, Teddy Blueger and Ian Cole on the Canucks' roster.
In exchange for Friedman and Glover, Vancouver sent defenseman Jack Rathbone and forward Karel Plasek to Pittsburgh.
Friedman is a 27-year-old right-shot defenceman who has played 65 NHL games and six playoff games. Glover is a 23-year-old centre who went undrafted and was signed as a college free agent, after spending time at Western Michigan University, where he was teammates with Canucks prospect Max Sasson.
Rathbone was an early cut from Canucks camp this season and didn't figure in the club's plans moving forward. The 2017 fourth-round draft pick appeared in 28 NHL games over three seasons, registering two goals and three assists.
Plasek was a sixth-round pick in the 2019 draft held at Rogers Arena. He played eight games for the Canucks' AHL affiliate in Abbotsford two years ago, before returning to his homeland to play professionally in Czechia last season.
Friedman gives the Canucks another right-side defensive option with NHL experience. Noah Juulsen has played the first two games of the season as the third pairing right side defenseman, but the feeling since training camp has been that the Canucks have been looking for help for that position.
Fun facts about the newcomers: Friedman is a Christmas baby born in Toronto on December 25, 1995 while Glover was born in Salford, England.
