Vancouver Canucks defensemen Tyler Myers and Ethan Bear won gold as part of victorious  Team Canada at the World Hockey Championships

Vancouver Canucks defensemen Tyler Myers and Ethan Bear have won gold medals with Team Canada at the IIHF World Hockey Championships in Finland. Canada defeated Germany 5-2 in Sunday's championship game.

Myers logged 24:44 in the title game while Bear did not play in Sunday's final or Saturday's semi-final. He was injured at the final buzzer in Canada's quarter-final victory over Finland. However, Bear was on skates and in uniform and took part in the gold medal celebration following Canada's win over the Germans. It's believed he suffered an upper body injury and will be evaluated by the Canucks medical staff upon his return to Vancouver.

Former Canucks Tyler Toffoli and Brad Hunt were also part of the championship roster. Toffoli netter the insurance marker midway through the third period.

For the tournament, Myers scored once -- his lone point -- in 10 games and averaged 19:37 of ice time per game. Bear, meanwhile, did not pick up any points in the eight games he appeared in while averaging 15:11 of ice per game.

In Sunday's bronze medal battle, Arturs Silovs made 26 saves leading Latvia to a 4-3 overtime victory over Conor Garland and Team USA. Silovs capped an incredible two weeks by being named goaltender on the World Championship All Star team and then being named as the tournament Most Valuable Player.

The 22-year-old netminder appeared in all 10 of Latvia's games starting the final nine. He finished the event with a 7-2 record, a 2.20 goals against average, a 92.1 save percentage and a shutout.

Just 10 months ago, Silovs participated in Canucks summer development camp at UBC. Since then, he made his National Hockey League debut and logged 5 NHL starts. He was also named Team MVP in Abbotsford this season. And now has capped an eventful season with a bronze medal and tournament MVP honours at the World Championships.
