The Vancouver Canucks will add Roberto Luongo to the Ring of Honour at Rogers Arena prior to a December 14th home game against the Florida Panthers. Luongo currently serves as Senior Advisor to Panthers General Manager Bill Zito.
The Canucks announced last November that Luongo would be the eighth player in franchise history enshrined in the Ring. The news came weeks after Luongo had taken his rightful spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame along with Canuck legends Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
“We are glad to officially have a date set for Roberto’s incredibly well-deserved induction to the Canucks Ring of Honour,” said Jim Rutherford, Vancouver Canucks President, Hockey Operations in a statement. “He is one of the greatest players to ever represent this team and his legacy continues in Vancouver to this day. As proud as we are to recognize Roberto with this achievement, it is as much of an honour for the organization and our fans to be able to celebrate him again in our building.”
Luongo spent eight years in a Canucks uniform from 2006 through 2014. In that time, he posted a 252-137-50 record and is the franchise leader in career victories. He twice was named Team MVP, played in three NHL All Star games and guided the Canucks to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Luongo also won an Olympic gold medal in his home arena in 2010 -- then known as Canada Hockey Place.
In addition to a pre-game ceremony, the first 10,000 fans into the building on December 14th will receive a Roberto Luongo bobblehead.

The first seven inductees into the Canucks Ring of Honour are Orland Kurtenbach (2010), Kirk McLean (2010), Thomas Gradin (2011), Harold Snepsts (2011), Pat Quinn (2014), Mattias Ohlund (2016), and Alex Burrows (2019).
