Demko will be re-evaluated on March 1.

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko will be missing some more time due to injury, Canucks management confirmed today, as he is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. While the Canucks confirmed that Demko's injury is not to his knee, this is the third stretch of time this season that he will be missing due to injury. He is expected to be re-evaluated on March 1.

This injury came during the Canucks' February 8 matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, during which Demko left in the middle of the first period after expressing discomfort during warmups. Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet later clarified that it was "something [that] happened during the game." This is not the first time a mid-game injury has happened to Demko this season, as he also left his January 2 start against the Seattle Kraken due to back spasms. He returned to play a little over a week later.

Demko's most-recent injury comes off the heels of a stellar stretch of play. The Tuesday before, he had posted his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win against the Colorado Avalanche. As well, he had an impressive 34-save performance against the San Jose Sharks. He was named the NHL's second star of the week during this stretch of time, registering a .985 SV%.

Since he is currently being deemed as week-to-week, Demko will miss the Canucks' upcoming five-game road trip. After the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off, Vancouver will play this Saturday and Sunday against the Vegas Golden Knights and Utah Hockey Club, before taking on the L.A. Kings and Anaheim Ducks the week after. They will round out their road trip with a game against the Kraken, after which they'll re-examine Demko's condition.
