
Tom Willander will once again play for Sweden at the World Juniors.

Vancouver Canucks prospect Tom Willander has been named to Team Sweden's 2025 World Juniors team. The 2023 first-round pick is expected to play a big role for Sweden as they look for their first Gold Medal since 2012. Last year, Willander helped Sweden win a Silver Medal, finishing the tournament with three points in seven games.

Willander is off to a strong start at Boston University. The right-shot defenceman has nine points in 14 games and is already up to 21 blocked shots on the season. As for the Terriers, they are currently 8-5-1 and just went 2-0 in the Friendship Four, which was a mini-tournament held in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
As for Team Sweden, it is jam-packed with talented NHL-drafted prospects. Some players to keep an eye on include Axel Sandin-Pellikka, David Edstrom, Otto Stenberg and Jack Berglund. While Sweden has not won Gold in over a decade, they have been consistently strong at the World Juniors, claiming a medal in three of the last six tournaments.
Team Sweden will kick off its 2025 World Juniors on December 26 against Slovakia. They will be part of Group B, which features Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, and Czechia. This year's tournament will take place in Ottawa, with the Gold Medal Game scheduled for January 5, 2025.
