Mark Friedman is heading to the Nashville Predators.
The Vancouver Canucks made yet another trade on a Friday in 2025, flipping blueliner Mark Friedman to the Nashville Predators in exchange for future considerations on Friday afternoon. This move comes one week after the team traded away J.T. Miller, Erik Brännström, Jackson Dorrington, Danton Heinen, and Vincent Desharnais.
Latest From THN's Vancouver Canucks Site:
Friedman first joined the Canucks last season after being traded to Vancouver alongside Ty Glover for Karel Plasek and Jack Rathbone. Before his time in Vancouver, he played with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, registering 12 points in 65 games. His stint in Vancouver lasted 28 games total, seeing him put up a single assist in the same span of time. He spent most of his time with the Abbotsford Canucks this season, posting a goal and five assists in his 20 games with the team.
During the 2024 offseason, Friedman signed a one-year contract with the Canucks, hosting an average annual value of $775K. He will be 29 years old by the end of this season. If Nashville chooses not to re-sign him, Friedman will hit free agency.
With the additions of Marcus Pettersson and Victor Mancini to the Canucks organization, Vancouver’s defensive core is starting to take on a different shape. Reports have already surfaced that the team has made Carson Soucy available for trade. This has all emerged while star defender Quinn Hughes has remained out of the lineup due to injury.
Friedman will join a Nashville team that hosts veterans like Roman Josi, Brady Skjei, and Luke Schenn on their blueline. The Predators are currently seventh in the Central Division with 43 points in 52 games.
