Boudreau has been a senior advisor in the OHL this season.

Bruce Boudreau has been named Team Canada's coach ahead of the 2023 Spengler Cup. The annual tournament is set to take place between Dec. 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland. This is the second time Boudreau has been named to Team Canada at this event, but the first time he will be attending the event as he could not make the trip back in 2021.

The Spengler Cup is a historic tournament that dates back to 1923. Hosted by HC Davos, this year's six teams will be Team Canada, HC Ambrì-Piotta, HC Davos, HC Dynamo Pardubice, KalPa, and Frölunda HC. Team Canada is the only national team represented at this year's tournament, with the other five teams being local clubs from Switzerland, Sweden, Finland and Czechia.

Boudreau has returned to junior hockey this season and is a senior advisor for the Niagra Ice Dogs in the OHL. He also has the opportunity to work alongside his son Ben, who was promoted to head coach on November 10. A rebuilding team, the Ice Dogs have a 7-18-4-1 record so far this season.

The pressure will be on for Team Canada after they failed to win a game at last year's tournament. With limited time for the team to develop chemistry, they will need to have a strong group stage if they have their sights on once again taking home the championship. Boudreau and the Canadians get going on December 26, with all games being aired on TSN.
