    Former Vancouver Canucks defenceman Mark Friedman is heading to Europe next season. The 29-year-old will be playing next season for Rögle BK in the SHL. Friedman's new contract is a two-year deal which will keep him in the SHL until the end of the 2026-27 season.

    Of his 93 career NHL games, 23 have come with the Canucks. Friedman was originally acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in October 2023 before being dealt to the Nashville Predators this past season. During his 23 games with Vancouver, Friedman recorded one assist while blocking 41 shots. 

    Friedman also spent time with the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL. During his 24 games, he recorded two goals along with 10 points. Friedman also had a plus/minus of +9 and finished his Abbotsford career with 19 penalty minutes.
